Why are americans scared to protest oil prices?

Goverment and corporations have oil prices artificially high. There are no organized protest fighting this manipulation. Are we scared ?Why are americans scared to protest oil prices?
We have the lowest oil prices in the world. We aren't scared to protest, we are smart enough to keep our mouths shut. Why are americans scared to protest oil prices?
no ,they are a bunch of sheep.
I don't think it's we're scared...I think it's we're lazy...

think of it us consumers have the choice....it's all about economics... If there's not demand then of course the prices will reflect that and it will decrease...

For example, in each of our towns if we worked with a supplier and asked them to bring down the price and we had everyone only use that gas...then the competition would soon bring down their prices...and then you continue this....That is why more competiion only helps the market...and that's what is the problem with Microsoft....seems there is a bit of a monoploy.

Anyways, if we can get people to be motivated enough to try changes the markets then living in the US could be much more affordable. Seems a little ridiculous to be paying $1400 for a studio in West LA.....but people are willing to pay those prices and that is why it's getting costly.
your question started out ok but you went too far. you should have stopped with, Why are americans scared to protest?

maybe its apathy, maybe its thinking that protesting will have no effect, and it s a shame its our inalienable right TO protest. LIves have been given just so we would have that right but sadly we hardly ever use it anymore ..we are sheep... baa baa
Americans are not scared to protest oil prices. It's just a fact of life that everything we buy goes up. Bread used to be 29 cents a loaf and milk was only 79 cents a gallon. Now bread costs more for a loaf than what we pay for a gallon of gas. Same thing with milk. We have to pay $2.89 a gallon or more for a gallon of milk.
What corporations have the price artificially high? How are they doing this? How does the government have the price too high? Do you think that in an election year the government would want to give the voting public any reason to vote against incumbents?

High prices are a result of supply and demand and political turmoil in the Middle East. The increased demand is because of our own consumption. Not just big SUV's, but of all the crap we buy from China and India. Their economies are booming and they are using more and more energy because of all the junk we buy from their factories. Do you want to make a difference? Then ask yourself how many TVs and DVD players you need. How many Bratz dolls and radio controlled cars do your kids need? This all takes energy, which increases demand, which raises prices.
What makes you think oil prices are too high? Economics is a funny thing. Most people don't understand it. I understand it somewhat.

Supply and demand - the only way to tell a price is too high is if nobody buys the product. Then they lower the price, and people buy more of it.

Take gasoline. If people by 2 zillion gallons in a month, and then the price goes up, and people STILL buy 2 zillion gallons that next month, then the price was probably artificially low before they raised it!

People like to complain about high gas prices, but that doesn't explain why people drive giant SUV's and it doesn't explain why people live 40 miles from their job.

The price of oil is set by the large number of speculators all over the world. Free market. Sorry.

Economics is strange. Not a good idea for you to be so loud about something you apparently don't understand.
Why are they scared to demand alternative energies and demand the total stoppage of oil use in the next 50 years??

We are lazy and waiting for someone to do it for us.
