Will the increase in the price of oil be the cause of a full scale war?

not alone, but oil, food and other basics combined mayWill the increase in the price of oil be the cause of a full scale war?
Probably.

I'm old enough to remember when we had the gas shortage in the 70's. There were gas station owners with guns standing at the end of lines to prevent more people from getting into the lines.

The quickest way to get the price up is to create a shortage. People will then be so happy to get fuel again they will pay any price. If that happened during a shortage to get the price to over a dollar (I firmly believe that's what's going to happen again to get it higher than $5) then I think that when it reaches $6 or 7 dollars a gallon (and I believe it will), something will have to happen to force the prices down.

If we can't get enough oil and other countries can't get enough oil, then I definitely believe there will be a war. People will do anything to get fuel for their vehicles. Plus, this is going to cause all kinds of shortages when the trucking companys start to go out of business and this is already happening also.

The price of food, clothing, everything that needs to be produced and/or trucked to the marketplace is going to skyrocket. As people get more and more desperate they are going to do things that they ordinarily would not do. There are already reports of people stealing used oil from restaurants and stealing gas from vehicles.

Personally, I think it's very frightening to see what's happening and to speculate what is going to happen when the ';shortage'; hits, and I firmly believe that it is going to happen. They are already talking about the oil supply as having ';peaked';, that means the supply is on it's way back down. Will the increase in the price of oil be the cause of a full scale war?
Katie 30 is so right but unfortunately as the unions have sold out the ordinary workers there is no one to organise strikes anymore . If this Government lowered the tax they put on fuel it would help, after all the Tax is helping fight a war that very few in this country want and over 1 billion pounds in charity aid to third world countries that we have been handing out for years and it has done no real good.

There may not be a full scale war, the Saudis are very powerful with allies like China Iran and Syria..... only the U.S.A would dare think of taking them on.
i thought this was already the root of the wars currently going on today. its about time the price of fuel caused some kind of anarchy in this country. if everyone strikes for one whole day the country would come to a complete standstill, and that will fettle the labour government. its about time Brits took a stand.
Most likely, with other factors, like food shortage, and arrogance.
not only that

perhaps the increase in food prices will help

Yes.
We can't afford another one yet.
